Home-Renu is the evolution of my knowledge and work within the construction industry. Over the years I have worked on whole house building projects from start to finish, as well as in specific trades like painting, roofing and finish carpentry. I began Home-Renu while I was in college earning my BA in Environmental Science. I started doing occasional maintenance on my landlord’s houses; one project led to another and by the time I graduated I had a thriving business.

After collaborating on many conventional job sites I became increasingly put off by the amounts of toxic chemicals that were present in all phases of construction and the incredible amount of waste filling the dumpsters on a daily basis. I knew that there had to be a better way. In 2002 I decided to take a closer look at my own business and find ways to approach my projects from an ecological and holistic perspective. At the time, there were very few eco-friendly paint and plaster options, but now there is an array of products to choose from.
